Joann Downey

Assemblywoman Joann Downey is running for reelection to the New Jersey State Assembly, representing District 11, which covers municipalities such as Colts Neck, Red Bank, and Tinton Falls. 

The daughter of a New Jersey State Trooper, Assemblywoman Downey is a former Deputy State Attorney General who prosecuted cases of child abuse and neglect. She is currently an attorney in private practice. 

Assemblywoman Downey is an ally for the environment who is fighting to provide real property tax relief to residents and to create a Monmouth County that her young daughters will be able to one day proudly call their home. She sponsored a bill that requires New Jersey to uphold the Paris Climate Agreement and she spoke out against a proposal for Atlantic Ocean offshore drilling. Assemblywoman Downey also serves on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee and serves as the Chair of the Human Services Committee.
