Eric Houghtaling

Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D) is running for re-election to the 11th Legislative District. Houghtaling was born in Neptune Township, New Jersey, where he served as an elected official on the Township Committee from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, Houghtaling became mayor of Neptune. He was elected to the General Assembly in November of 2015, and currently serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Telecommunications and Utilities Committees. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 400 and recently retired. 

Since joining the legislature, Houghtaling has been a conservation advocate, sponsoring open space and farmland preservation legislation and promoting oceans protections. In his role on the Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee, Houghtaling has actively engaged on agriculture issues such as encouraging the use of native plant species.
