Daniel R. Benson

Assemblyman Daniel R. Benson (D) represents the 14th legislative district and is running for re-election. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University, where he studied physics and government. He later received a Masters in Planning and Public Policy from Rutgers University. He currently works as a consultant. Before being elected to the Assembly in 2011, Benson was Mercer County Freeholder from 2008 to 2011. He serves as the Chair of the Law and Public Safety Committee, a member of the Health and Senior Services, and on the Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee. 

Assemblyman Benson has sponsored bills to promote the effectiveness of NJ Clean Energy Programs through incentive programs and direct installation of electric vehicle charging stations in service areas on toll roads. He has also been working to develop comprehensive water infrastructure legislation.
