Shama Haider is running for election to the New Jersey State Assembly in District 37, which covers municipalities like Teaneck and Tenafly.
Shama is a community leader that was elected to the governing body of her town as a councilwoman. She has run for mayor and is now serving as chair of the Democratic Party in Tenafly. While she was a councilwoman, Shama was the Chair of the Tenafly Environmental Commission — initiating the first environmental resource inventory for Tenafly.
She serves on the Bergen County (New Jersey) Commission on the Status of Women and Bergen County Human Services Advisory Council, and she is Chair of the Tenafly Business Development Committee. She is a Trustee of LRBT America, a non-profit that raises funds to fight blindness and provide free medical services to the poor. Prior to emigrating to the US, Shama was Secretary to the First Lady of Pakistan, where she was responsible for the implementation and execution of policy for the office of the first lady at the national and international levels.
We are proud to endorse Shama Haider in the 37th District, and we urge you to vote for her.
