Assemblywoman Joann Downey

Since her appointment to the Assembly in 2016, Assemblywoman Joann Downey has represented the state's 11th legislative district, which covers municipalities in Monmouth County.

The daughter of a New Jersey State Trooper, Assemblywoman Downey is a former Deputy State Attorney General who prosecuted cases of child abuse and neglect. She is currently an attorney in private practice. She received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and her law degree from New York Law School. She also holds a Master's Degree in social work from Boston University.

Assemblywoman Downey is an alley for the environment who is fighting to provide real property tax relief to residents and to create a Monmouth County her young daughters will be able to one day proudly call their home. She sponsored a bill that requires New Jersey to uphold the Paris Climate Agreement and she spoke out against a proposal for Atlantic Ocean offshore drilling. Assemblywoman Downey serves on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee and serves as the Chair of the Human Services Committee. We are proud to endorse her in the 11th district, and we urge you to vote for her on November 5th.
