At a time when too many representatives in Congress are sticking their heads in the sand about our environmental challenges, Rep. Frank LoBiondo is calling for action to protect South Jersey's environment and backing up his words with his votes. In particular, his recent vote against HR 2042, a bill that attempts to gut the EPA's Clean Power Plan, should be commended.

The Clean Power Plan will establish the first-ever national standards to curb carbon pollution and will protect South Jersey's air quality. This proposal is constantly under assault in Congress, and the most recent bill is just another thinly veiled attempt to protect big polluters.

South Jersey is already dealing with the effects of climate change and residents' health is threatened by out-of-state pollution. Congress should stop attacking proposals to mitigate these threats. We appreciate that LoBiondo understands the importance of protecting the health of New Jersey's families and businesses and we look forward to working with him.
