GOVERNOR  MURPHY TO HEADLINE NEW JERSEY LCV GREEN TIE GALA

TRENTON – The New Jersey League of Conservation Voters will host its 7th annual Green Tie Gala virtually on June 23, 2021 from 6 to 7 pm. The purpose of the gala is to celebrate pro-environment legislative wins and to honor those who have helped make those achievements a reality. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will deliver the keynote, members of the Broadway Green Alliance will  perform, and environmental champions will be recognized for their advocacy.

“While we can celebrate a year of success, even in the face of COVID-19, we understand that there is still a significant amount of work that needs to be done in New Jersey to protect our natural resources, improve public health, and right the wrongs of environmental racism,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director New Jersey LCV. “We can’t rest until we make sure everyone has clean air, safe drinking water, and open space no matter their zip code, and that we effectively combat climate change.”

The following is a list of the environmental champion honorees:

“We thank New Jersey LCV for recognizing the work that went into the passage of the landmark Environmental Justice Law, that has the potential to protect communities of color and low-income communities from disproportionate pollution burdens,” said Melissa Miles, Executive Director, New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance. “We are also grateful for the widespread support of this effort, and we ask the environmental community to continue to center EJ voices as we move through the rulemaking process towards implementation.”

“I am honored to receive the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Emerald Award, which acknowledges my legislative efforts to ensure that everyone – regardless of their zip codes or income – have access to clean air, clean water, and clean energy,” said New Jersey Senator Troy Singleton, a champion of environmental justice, drinking water, and energy equity initiatives. “While I humbly accept this award, I would like to dedicate it to all of those who will no longer be silenced in their pursuit of environmental justice and equity for their families and communities.”

"Princeton Hydro is honored to receive New Jersey LCV's inaugural Sustainability Award. Our firm is committed to improving our ecosystems, quality of life, and communities for the better, and we share many of the same values as New Jersey LCV and its supporters. Both internally and externally, we aim to integrate environmental stewardship and sustainability into our work, from reducing our carbon footprint in our offices to designing resilient, nature-based solutions in New Jersey neighborhoods and beyond,” said Geoffrey Goll, President, Princeton Hydro. “We appreciate New Jersey LCV's dedication to protecting the environment in the Garden State and thank you for selecting Princeton Hydro for this prestigious award.”
