WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Aimee Belgard for Congress (NJ-3). Belgard has a strong environmental record standing up to corporate polluters and supporting commonsense policies that invest in a clean energy economy while protecting our planet for future generations.

“Aimee Belgard has stood up to corporate polluters while fighting hard to protect our environment, and she will bring this same leadership with her to Congress,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “She is committed to growing a clean energy economy, combating climate change, and preserving our public lands for future generations to enjoy.”

“Aimee Belgard has been an environmental leader throughout her career, working to protect public health, preserve open space, and safeguard our natural resources," Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “She fights tirelessly to give the people of New Jersey a voice, and is committed to protecting the environment and the many natural treasures in the Garden State, including restoring the Jersey Shore.”

"I am thrilled to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund," said Belgard. "The environmental issues facing New Jersey today affect our jobs, our families and our everyday lives. That's why I support the expansion of alternative energies, which will not only reduce Co2 emissions, but create jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.  I'm also focused on rebuilding our shoreline after Hurricane Sandy and making sure our beachfronts can sustain another storm by emphasizing storm prevention and preparedness. There are an estimated 29,000 people still displaced in Ocean County alone, and in Congress I'll do everything I can to get people back in their homes and back to work."

As an elected official of the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Belgard has stood up to corporate polluters by persistently opposing the hazardous waste incinerator from being built in nearby Bristol, PA.

Belgard supports commonsense policies that protect our environment. She has made re-building the Jersey Shore a priority and is dedicated to revitalizing its fishing tourism and recreation industries. Belgard is also committed to making America a leader in clean energy and energy efficiency because she knows it will grow New Jersey’s economy, lower our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and reduce the carbon pollution that causes climate change.
