LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP APPLAUDS MURPHY ADMINISTRATION DECISION TO CHANGE COURSE ON KEARNY “TRANSITGRID” MICROGRID PROJECT

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, congratulating Governor Murphy on his request that the NJ Transit Board withdraw the permit application filed with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for the Kearny “transitgrid” microgrid project.

“We urged the governor to withdraw these permits, and I am pleased that he has taken this important step to close the door on the previous harmful polluting design. Burning gas and increasing pollution would be a step backward and out of line with New Jersey’s current economic and environmental vision that calls for a more sustainable, fairer and stronger future,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We look forward to the project continuing with a focus on clean energy and keeping New Jersey on track for the 21st century sustainable future the people of New Jersey overwhelmingly say they want.”
