LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP CELEBRATES GOVERNOR MURPHY’S SIGNING OF HISTORIC ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE LEGISLATION

TRENTON – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, on Governor Murphy signing into law a bill to address cumulative impacts of pollution in overburdened communities in New Jersey.

“This is the strongest and most consequential action regarding the cumulative impacts of pollution on communities of color in the nation, and we’re thrilled that Governor Murphy signed it into law today,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We applaud New Jersey Senator Troy Singleton and Assemblyman John McKeon and congratulate the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance, Ironbound Community Corporation, and Clean Water Action on their leadership and decade-long efforts to pass this critical legislation. It is a game changer for communities of color who have suffered the burdens of pollution in our state and had nowhere to turn. Addressing cumulative impacts is a major part of the New Jersey LCV legislative agenda, and we look forward to supporting our environmental justice partners to make implementation of this legislation the strongest it can be.”
