New Jersey LCV Applauds NJBPU Study Calling for PJM Reforms
The following is a statement from Allison McLeod, Interim Executive Director, New Jersey LCV regarding the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) in-depth study that finds the capacity market run by regional grid operator PJM Interconnection (PJM) can no longer deliver reliable power at the lowest possible cost.
“We’ve been sounding the alarm that PJM’s broken capacity market is driving up costs for families while failing to deliver the reliable, affordable energy our state needs. This action by the BPU is a critical step toward making sure ratepayers aren’t left footing the bill for a system that no longer works,” said Allison McLeod, Interim Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We’ve said it before, and the evidence is now clear: PJM must modernize its markets, make large energy users like data centers pay their fair share, and prioritize interconnecting cheaper, clean energy.”
