NEW JERSEY LCV APPLAUDS WHITE HOUSE BOLD OFFSHORE WIND COMMITMENT

TRENTON – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, about the White House forum today with representatives from states, the offshore wind industry, and members of the labor community to identify solutions to the greatest challenges facing the development of the offshore wind industry. The event included a commitment by Interior, Energy and Commerce departments to establish a target to deploy 30 gigawatts (30,000 megawatts) of offshore wind by 2030, creating nearly 80,000 jobs.

“Today’s forum was one of the most significant in recent history dedicated to improving the lives of all New Jerseyans by supporting the largest regional economic development opportunity in a generation, building off of the Murphy Administration’s goal to make New Jersey a regional hub for offshore wind,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “Expanding our clean energy sector must be a core component of any sustainable green jobs recovery in New Jersey that builds a stronger, fairer and more equitable 21^st century economy for all New Jerseyans. It’s good to see New Jersey has a national partner to move us forward.”
