NEW JERSEY LCV CONGRATULATES NICK SCUTARI ON SELECTION AS SENATE PRESIDENT and TERESA RUIZ AS MAJORITY LEADER

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, regarding the announcement that New Jersey State Senator Nicholas Scutari (LD 22) will be the next Senate President and State Senator Teresa Ruiz (LD-29) will be the Majority Leader for the New Jersey Legislature.

“New Jersey LCV welcomes the leadership of Nicholas Scutari as the new Senate President for the New Jersey Legislature. We endorsed him during the recent election because of his environmental record. The Senator’s most recent score on the New Jersey LCV Environmental Scorecard was 100% and he has a lifetime score of 86%. We also want to congratulate Teresa Ruiz on her selection as Majority Leader. Her most recent score on the New Jersey LCV Environmental Scorecard is 100% with a lifetime score of 87%,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We look forward to continuing to work with Senate President-Elect Scutari, Majority Leader-Elect Ruiz, and all our environmental champions in the legislature to enact bold action that protects New Jerseyans’ health, creates good-paying jobs, addresses critical threats, like climate change, and stops the cumulative impacts of pollution on low income and communities of color.”
