NEW JERSEY LCV CRITICIZES CORPORATE TAKEOVER OF PINELANDS

Governor attempts to replace environmental champions with powerful corporate interests

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV, regarding Governor Murphy’s announcement of nominations to the Pinelands Commission:

“This slate of nominees amounts to a massive corporate giveaway of one of New Jersey’s greatest environmental treasures in a move so brazen that not even Chris Christie would have attempted it,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “Adding insult to injury, these three nominees would replace longstanding environmental champions. This slate of nominees stands in stark contrast to the governor’s record, and his campaign promises. And to make matters worse, these nominations are being fast-tracked during the lame duck session, which will prevent a thorough vetting by legislators and the public. The governor’s plan is unacceptable. We are asking him to immediately change course in order to keep his promise to New Jersey voters to protect our state’s clean drinking water, clean air and open space.”
