TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, regarding the announcement that New Jersey State Senator Chris Brown (R-2) will not run for re-election.

“Three environmental champions are leaving the New Jersey Senate this year – Senators Loretta Weinberg, Kip Bateman, and now Chris Brown. Senator Brown recently received our Emerald Award for his record of strong support for the environment. We highlighted his leadership on several New Jersey LCV legislative priorities like catalyzing the good local union jobs in wind and solar that will be possible by the Clean Energy Act, electrifying our public transportation system, and setting strong goals of reducing greenhouse gas pollution by 80%,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We are especially committed to making sure whoever replaces Senator Brown lives up to his legacy of conservation and environmental leadership. We’ve lost two Republican champions. We implore Atlantic County Republicans to nominate an environmental champion like Chris Brown to fill the void in pro-conservation leadership. Senator Brown will be missed in the legislature.”
