TOTOWA, NJ—Ed Potosnak, executive director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement today on the Attorney General’s Office and Department of Environmental Protection’s announcement of new Civil Enforcement Actions:

Once again, we are thrilled to learn Attorney General Grewal and Commissioner McCabe are continuing to build on their promises of holding major polluters accountable in New Jersey for the harm they’ve caused to our businesses, families, and environment-- in this case, holding DuPont, Chemours, and 3M accountable for the extensive, decades-long contamination in our state. This is a significant change in course from the Christie Administration which was more interested in settling for pennies on the dollar with polluters than protecting our communities and following the strong laws we have in place to do so.

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is proud to have led the efforts to get the constitutional amendment for natural resource damages on the ballot, and to have worked with our partners to pass the ballot measure with 69% of the vote. This ensured that natural resource damages can’t be stolen and will go back to the communities most harmed by big polluters.

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
