New Jersey LCV Statement on Governor Murphy's and DEP Commissioner McCabe's
Denial of William Transco's Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Project Permits

TRENTON, NJ – Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement today on Governor Murphy's and DEP Commissioner McCabe's denial of key permits for William Transco's Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Project:

"New Jersey LCV strongly applauds Governor Murphy and New Jersey DEP for their denial of Williams Transco’s NESE project. Since day one, Governor Murphy has outlined his plans for putting New Jersey on a path to realize 100% clean energy by 2050 and ensuring that New Jersey regains its title as a national leader in addressing the climate crisis, and he continues to build on that promise today. We thank Governor Murphy and DEP Commissioner Catherine McCabe for using sound scientific analyses and the strong laws New Jersey has in place to protect our water and air and to ensure that we achieve the clean energy goals Governor Murphy has set forth to make New Jersey the greenest state in America. This action sends a clear message that New Jersey is strongly committed to ensuring a healthy environment for our residents and embracing the good local jobs that come with a clean energy future and economy."

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
