New independent analysis shows Ciattarelli energy plan would cost families nearly $900 more a year

TRENTON, NJ - Republican gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli’s energy plan would raise energy prices for New Jersey working families by nearly $900 per year, according to a new study.

The independent, nonpartisan study, conducted by Greenline Insights, analyzed the impacts to consumers if Ciattarelli was able to implement his energy policies, including pulling New Jersey out of RGGI, repealing electric vehicle standards, repealing energy efficiency standards for appliances and rolling back the state’s offshore wind goals.

The report, commissioned by the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, found that Ciattarelli’s agenda would raise costs for working families by an average of $853 a year — a staggering impact on the pocketbooks of families suffering under the weight of rising costs for essentials like groceries and health insurance.

Rather than lower prices for New Jersey families as promised, the Ciattarelli plan would only make matters worse by decreasing access to energy efficient appliances, electric vehicles and cleaner renewable energy like solar and wind.
